We have been very busy in grade 3!
In math, we are exploring fractions (parts of a whole, naming fractions, writing fractions (numerator/denominator), and fractions of a set (e.g. 1 fourth of 12) ).
In language, we have been working on writing full and complete paragraphs, writing full and complete written responses to questions based on a text. We are also building our persuasive writing skills by including examples to support our statements. We continue to develop our inferring skills and reading comprehension through rich discussion based on text read, as well as using reading strategies such as relating text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world. We recently completed our second class read-aloud titled "My Father's Dragon" which was recommended to us by our Global Read Aloud partners in Delaware. Ask your child about the book! Elmer was a quick thinker!
